The Friends of the Leon County Public Library is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization supporting the library’s programs and initiatives. We can only do that with your help.
The Leon County Public Library offers essential resources and critical community infrastructure integral to Tallahassee’s resilience and growth.
Your membership contributions are used to grow the library’s digital & physical catalog, including free access to audiobook apps, subscriptions to newspapers & periodicals, and digital streaming content.
Your support helps to sponsor & promote essential library programs serving more than 40,000 people, including digital literacy initiatives, SAT test prep for teens, the Library of Things, and Book Club Kits.
Friends members help the library to offer invaluable resources to the Tallahassee community including workforce development programs, free food distribution & Care Kits, and connections to housing services.

Every fall and spring, The Friendshop and the Friends of the Library take over the Main Library loading dock on Bronough Street for Tallahassee’s biggest and best sidewalk book sale. Featuring an enormous selection of gently used books, movies, music, and more on sale for the lowest prices of the year. All proceeds go to support the Leon County Public Library.
The Friends of the Library operate a well-stocked, gently used bookstore with outposts at every branch. Members get 10% off every Friendshop purchase and early access to our semi-annual Title Wave book sale.

Since 1954, the Friends of the Library has been raising funds to support library programs like the Digital Literacy Initiative, the Community Engagement program, and many others. We’ve also helped in the purchase of equipment, books, and the construction and remodel of library branches around Leon County.
